Emotional Recovery &
Birth Trauma Support

Up to 30% of women experience trauma symptoms following birth—whether they report it or not.

You don’t need a clinical diagnosis to feel that something wasn’t right, or that your experience has left a lasting emotional impact.

Not all pregnancies, births, or early parenting experiences go as planned — and sometimes, they leave behind more than just physical recovery.

For many women, trauma doesn’t always come from one big, dramatic moment. It might be the lingering distress from an unexpected induction, a loss of control in the postnatal period, a difficult breastfeeding journey, or simply not feeling heard or safe during their care. It could also be rooted in past experiences that were never fully processed, like a previous traumatic birth or early loss.

These moments matter — and how you feel about them now is what’s important.

Understanding Trauma in the Perinatal Period

As a midwife and Perinatal Emotional Health & Wellbeing Practitioner, I offer space to make sense of what’s happened — whether that’s during pregnancy, birth, or the early weeks with your baby. Using my clinical experience, I can explain what may have happened from a medical point of view and help you understand why certain decisions were made. But more than that, I offer a supportive space where your story is heard, validated, and gently explored.

You don’t have to tick any boxes or meet a diagnostic threshold to seek help. Whether you're experiencing flashbacks, anxiety, panic attacks, sadness, difficulty bonding with your baby, or simply feel stuck in a moment you can’t move past—you are not alone, and healing is possible.

Birth Debrief & Emotional Processing

Our first session is a safe and relaxed space to talk through your experience, no matter how recent or distant. Together we explore what happened, how it impacted you, and what questions or emotions are still present. This can be incredibly powerful on its own — helping you make sense of the experience and begin to let go of guilt, fear, or confusion.

Trauma Recovery with the 3-Step Rewind Technique

When more support is needed, I offer the 3-Step Rewind, a gentle and effective method that helps reduce the emotional intensity of traumatic memories. Originally developed from neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), it allows you to revisit the experience safely — without needing to talk through all the details — and begin to move forward with more calm, clarity, and confidence.

This process is suitable for birth trauma, but also any other perinatal experience that’s left a lasting emotional mark.

It takes place over three sessions (online or in-person):

  1. Initial Session: We discuss how the experience is affecting your life now, and how you’d like to feel going forward. I also guide you through a relaxation exercise to help prepare for the next stage. (60 mins)

  2. Rewind Session: Using guided relaxation and visualisation, we revisit the memory from a safe and emotionally regulated place, allowing the brain to begin separating the experience from its emotional intensity. (90 mins)

  3. Review Session: We reflect on any changes you’ve felt and look ahead with new perspective, confidence, and lightness.

Most people notice a significant shift within this short process, but I’m here for ongoing support if you need it. (45 mins)
